Verberie is a small market town with a population of four thousand. It is located in the departement of Oise, in the Picardy region and is approximately 65 km north of Paris. It takes advantage of its pleasant environment along the Oise river, at the edge of Compiegne forest. It is part of the "Communauté de la Basse Automne" in the heart of the Valois area. On the outskirts of the town there is a small industrial area with a range of dynamic small sized and craft industries. The centre has kept many shops. The town has a lively and diverse social life, providing opportunities to develop interests in sport and cultural activities. It is a pretty town, surrounded by beautiful countryside, providing local people and visitors with many areas of interest for walking and cycling. It is an historic place of interest which was also home to one of Charles the great's former palaces.
